What took the excitement-driving soundtrack to the next level was when Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 was released in 2001, as it was the first in the series with online connectivity. The THPS series was critically acclaimed for their soundtracks, and all installments in the series contributed their own unique list that evolved in sound just as the gameplay did in style. ATV Offroad Fury was developed by Rainbow Studios, which is also responsible for the successful PC titles Motocross Madness and Motocross Madness 2.It’s no secret that the soundtrack to a game can tug at your heart strings, but it’s also a huge driving force behind the feelings of nostalgia we get when we replay a game from our younger years. The game features six different types of competition, including Enduro races and freestyle stunt contests. A track editor is also included to allow players to design their own courses. To scale, environments can be over two square miles and the game provides 20 different area for racing. ![]() Vehicles need not stay "on track" at all times and players can steer their bikes and ATV's anywhere on the course. All vehicles and environments in ATV Offroad Fury are rendered in full 3D. Up to four players can compete at once on a split-screen with the help of a PS2 multi-tap. ![]() Then it's time to crank up the alternative rock soundtrack, grab a few friends, and hit the off-road course for stunts and speed. Once the vehicle selection is made a trip to the garage is in order, where ATV's and bikes can be tweaked and customized to better match specific driving styles. Players choose from a dozen All-Terrain Vehicles and three motorbikes, all from real-world names like Honda, Yamaha, and Kawasaki. ![]()
